We start todays trek with climb uphill to Jele through pine forests. Even though it’s a short trek we will go slow and steady, as the altitude gain is major. We can enjoy the beautiful view of Paro surrounded by snow caped mountains if the weather is clear.
begins with a climb of 15 minutes from the campsite to Jele Dzong. Jele Dzong is a small fortress built cleverly on whaleback ridge in the early 16th century. There is this beautiful statue of Buddha Shakyamuni inside. From there we continue our uphill climb through thick alpine forest of rhododendrons. We will have fine view of Mt. Jumolhari(2nd highest mountain in Bhutan) reaching yak herder’s pastures at Jangchu Lakha.
the trail will take us through dwarfrhododendrons with sensational view of Jichu Drakey (6989m). we arrive at the famous Jimilangtsho lake (3880m), which is know for its giant sized trout’s. Will be camping close to Jimilangtsho.
the trail again taking us through dwarfrhododendrons and bypasses the lake of Janetsho. We will get to witness and experience the life of herders if we come along their camp. Simkota Tsho can be seen below where we camp tonight.
begins with a continuing climb and will be enjoying a magnificent view Mt. Gangkar Phensum, the highest peak in Bhutan (7570m 0r 24840ft). We will then descend to another small lake and then climb to the Phume La pass (4210m) from where we may also view other peaks. From here we can also enjoy a majestic view of Thimphu valley.
leisure walk way down the hill to Thimphu through forests of blue pine, juniper, oak and populous until we reach the road head of Sangaygang. Afternoon at leisure and overnight at your comfortable hotel.
