The track follows Pa Chhu( Paro river) through oak, pine and spruce forest. After continuous hiking for about 2 hours we will reach at Shingkharap. A hot lunch will be served at riverside. From there after climbing up for about 8 hours we reach our camp at 3750m.
the first sight in the morning will be the magnificent Mt. Jumolhari. Since the track goes above tree line, we will gain a significant height gain. Our path will be ascending till we reach the army camp. As we ascend we will pass through the yak herders camp. We will be served with lunch at the yak herders’ camp or near river side. We will continue walking following the streambed; we will come across a Danggochang village and a school for nomad kids. After an hour, we will reach our Campsite of Jangothang at an altitude of 4040m. From here we will have the awesome view of Mt. Jumolhari and Jichu Drake.
we will have a leisure uphill climb of 2 hours to Tshophu Lake and enjoy the beautiful view of Mt. Jumolhari, Jichu Drake and Tsherim Gang. Or if you choose to stay back at the camp and relax, we will walk around the campsite, visit the old ruined fortress on a hillock in the foreground. We will be likely to spot blue sheep, golden eagles, blue poppy, Himalayan griffon Vultures.
the track follows the stream for half an hour and crosses the bride to the right side. We will start the climb up to the Nge La pass at an altitude of 4700m with a breathtaking view of Mt. Jumolhari, Jichu Drake and Tsherim Gang. After the pass it is a gradual descent with a view of Lingshi Dzong and if the time permits we can detour this fortress. Camp at 4010m.
After the breakfast we will be climbing uphill towards a small white chorten above the camp. And then after crossing the river we will have a steep climb for about 2 hours to Yeli-la (4820m). From this pass we can enjoy the view of Mt. Jumolhari, Gangchenta, Tsherim Gang and Masagang if we have a clear weather. It then continues descending alongside Thimphu Chhu until reaching the meadow of Shodu (4100m), where we will camp overnight.
our track follows the Thimphu Chhudescending through Rhododendron, Juniper and mixed alpine forest, with beautiful views of waterfalls and cliff facing rocks. Lunch will be served along the riverside. After the lunch the track will take us upwards to the ruins of Barshong Dzong (3600m), where we will camp over night.
we will be descending gently through a dense forest of Rhododendron, birch and conifers, then drops steeply to meet Thimphu Chhu. Our track follows along the riverbank, climbing up the ridges coming out onto Pastureland where we camp for the night at 3600m.
the track descends joining the Thimphu River through a forest of conifers and high altitude broadleaf species. The track drops steeply all the way to Dodena. Transfer to Thimphu. Overnight at hotel.
