Chaling – Donmang Chhu (19 Km, 6 -7 hours, 1210m Ascend, 200m Descend)
Donmang Chu – Merak (14 Km, 5 hours, 396 Ascent, Camp ALT 3520)
Merak – Miksateng (16 Km, 5 hours, 633m Ascent, 1073m Descent, Camp ALT 3080m)
Miksateng – Sakteng (11 Km, 5 hours, 81m Ascent, 310m Descent, Camp ALT 2950m)
Sakteng – Joenkhar Teng (17 Km, 7 hours, 74m Ascent, 1291m Descent, Camp ALT 1800m)
Chaling – Donmang Chu
Our trek starts with steady climb towards Shaktimi meadow with the view of yaks and sheep grazing. We will be climbing further taking us to Mendula Pass (3354m). from this pass we will be descending through rhododendron forests to Donmang Chu camp at 3124m.
Donmang Chu – Merak
The trails from Donmang Chu to Merak mostly follow the river bends. There will be a gentle ascend before we reach Gangu village. After 45 minutes walk from the Gangu village we will reach Merak (3520m). The campsite is located before the village with a gorgeous view of nearby mountains and villages. We can visits the local village to gain a new experience.
Merak – Miksateng
It is going to be challenging journey today since we will be crossing the highest Nachungla Pass (4153m). we will be climbing gradually from the camp site to the first pass (3900m) and continue the trek along the tree line of Juniper and rhododendron forests and conquer the Nachula Pass. Then we will be descending to Miksateng Village Campsite (3060m).
After the breakfast we will be descending towards the river and after following the riverbank for few hours, we will be gradually ascending towards the pass with a small stupa overlooking the village. We camp on the outskirts of the Saktengvillage (2950m)
Exploring Sakteng Village
Today is going to be a leisure day. We will be visiting the local homes, temples and interacting with the locals. It will be an experience you have never gained before. We will be exploring the unique life styles of this ethnic group. We can also visit the local schools and interact with the students there. People there will be very keen to perform cultural shows for you, they will come to perform. They also Brue local wines that you can try if you like to. Over night in Sakteng.
Sakteng – Joenkhar Teng
Today we will be starting early from the camp since it’s a long journey. We will start with a climb to the hill towards the west end of the village. And after descending down, we will be walking alongside the river through the broad leaf forests. Views are spectacular. Our camp(1750m) ground is next to the river.
